Yay! It's that beautiful mid-to-late October window when the weather is chaotic and the trees look like an explosion in a Crayola factory. Enjoy it while it lasts!

A few notes for the next six weeks:

  • We are closed on Monday, October 21, and may be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, too. Jason is afflicted by a sinus infection that is slowly gaining in intensity. So he will be miserable at home, where he cannot subject his unsuspecting customers to his discomforts.
  • We are suspending the Book Buyback program for the remainder of 2024. We have waaaaay too many books that are still wanting of a shelf. We'll be closed for two weeks at the end of December and beginning of January, when we plan to re-cart the entire store.
  • We're beginning a pivot toward shelving new books by local authors and small presses. If you have a book you'd like for us to acquire, check out our Sell Your Books page for additional information.
  • Beginning October 30, the Salon program is suspended until December. We are partnering with the West Michigan Author Alliance on programming for "That November Thing" (a local variation of the now-disgraced National Novel Writing Month) – Salons on Wednesdays conflict with an in-person write-in. As such, on Wednesdays from 10/30 we will close at 4 p.m. instead of 8 p.m. Our 8 p.m. hours on Wednesday will resume beginning Dec. 4.
  • Speaking of WMAA, we host a Day of Knockout Noveling on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10a to 6p. It's a free, open-door potluck. The goal is to come in and write (thanks to timed word sprints). Bring a dish to pass, if you'd like. Lots to nibble on! There's also a silent-auction fundraiser for WMAA that's optional. The bookstore will not be open for retail (the carts will be sequestered so we can put out tables and chairs) but will be open to the public for anyone who wishes to participate in the writing and the potlucking.
  • We are closed on the Wednesday and Thursday of Thanksgiving week. At present, we plan to be open on Friday but some still-tentative family holiday plans may get in the way. More to come.

Now, get outdoors, enjoy the colors, and read a good book. 😺
